  • The official IdealZero website and related web properties;
  • IdealZero mobile applications;
  • Connected smart hardware devices manufactured or distributed by IdealZero;
  • Related online and offline services, features, and tools;
  • Customer support, order management, account, warranty, and product services.

By accessing or using our services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information depending on how you use our services.

Account and Contact Information

When you create an account or register a product, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, account ID, login credentials, mailing address, billing address, and other contact information you provide. Passwords are stored in encrypted form.

Order, Payment, and Transaction Information

When you purchase products or services, we collect order details, purchase history, payment method type (such as card type and last four digits), billing and shipping addresses, and transaction identifiers. Full payment card numbers are processed by third-party payment providers and are not stored by us.

Device Information

When you activate or use an IdealZero device, we may collect:

Device model, serial number, and hardware identifiers; Firmware version and software configuration; Device settings and user preferences; Diagnostic data, error logs, and crash reports; Connectivity status, including Wi-Fi SSID, signal strength, and pairing history; Sensor readings, performance data, and operational metrics relevant to device functionality.

App and Website Usage Information

When you use our website or app, we may automatically collect pages visited, features used, session duration, search queries, referral URLs, navigation activity, and interactions with products or content.

Customer Support Communications

If you contact customer support, we may collect your communications, attachments, chat logs, call recordings (where permitted), the nature of your inquiry, and related follow-up records.

Feedback and User Content

We may collect product reviews, survey responses, ratings, feedback, and any media or content you voluntarily submit.

Technical and Analytics Data

We may automatically collect IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, log files, session identifiers, and analytics data regarding your use of our services.

Information collected through cookies, SDKs, pixels, analytics tools, server logs, and similar technologies when you use our website, app, or connected devices. Connected devices may automatically transmit operational, diagnostic, and performance data.

From Connected Hardware Devices

Our devices transmit operational information, usage logs, diagnostic events, and performance metrics when connected to the Internet. Device data may be reviewed or managed through your account or the IdealZero app.

From Third Parties

We may receive information from:

  • Analytics providers;

  • Advertising and marketing partners;
  • Authorized third-party integrations connected to your account.

IdealZero may use artificial intelligence ("AI") and machine learning ("ML") technologies to:

  • Analyze device performance, diagnostics, usage patterns, and service quality;
  • Provide automated recommendations, troubleshooting assistance, customer support, and intelligent features;
  • Enhance safety, security, personalization, and system accuracy.

When AI or ML involves personal information:

  • We do not use sensitive personal information to train AI or ML models without a valid legal basis or your consent where required by law;
  • Data used for AI or ML may be aggregated, de-identified, anonymized, or pseudonymized where practicable;
  • AI-generated outputs are provided for general informational purposes and should not be relied upon as professional, medical, legal, or other expert advice unless expressly stated;
  • You may exercise applicable privacy rights regarding personal information used in AI or ML features by contacting us as described in Section 17.

5. Your Privacy Obligations and Sensitive Information 

Data Minimization

Please provide only the information necessary to use our services. Unless specifically requested, do not submit:

  • Government-issued identification numbers;
  • Health, medical, or insurance information;
  • Human biometric data, including fingerprints, facial recognition data, or voiceprints;
  • Financial account information beyond what is necessary for payment processing;
  • Information relating to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age under local law);
  • Information revealing racial or ethnic origin, religion, political opinions, or sexual orientation;
  • Sensitive location information you do not wish to be processed; or
  • Other information classified as sensitive under applicable law.

Where sensitive personal information is required for a specific service, we will collect it only with an appropriate legal basis and, where required, your consent.

Camera and Vision Privacy

Certain IdealZero devices use cameras or vision technologies designed to identify animals rather than individuals. Although human images may be captured incidentally, our products are not intended to identify or profile people.

You are responsible for:

  • Placing camera-enabled devices in locations that minimize incidental capture of individuals;
  • Informing household members or visitors where appropriate; and
  • Using camera features in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
Handling of Sensitive Information and Biometrics

Certain categories of data, including pet biometric identifiers, pet health metrics, and precise geolocation, may be considered sensitive information under applicable law.

We process such information only to provide and improve product functionality, including identifying individual pets for health monitoring and safety features.

IdealZero does not sell, lease, or use sensitive or biometric information for behavioral advertising, human profiling, or unrelated commercial purposes.

Sensitive information is retained only as long as necessary to provide enabled features. When no longer required, or upon your request where applicable, it will be securely deleted or de- identified.

You may withdraw consent for sensitive data processing at any time through the IdealZero App or by contacting support@idealzero.com.

6. How We Store Your Information

Your information may be stored and processed in the United States, China, or other countries where IdealZero, its affiliates, or service providers operate. Where required by law, cross-border transfers are protected through Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate safeguards.

We use secure cloud infrastructure, databases, backup systems, and commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect stored information.

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or to comply with legal obligations. Typical retention periods include:

  • Account information: until account deletion, then deleted or anonymized within 90 days;
  • Order and transaction records: 7 years;
  • Device and usage data: 2 years after last use, then aggregated or anonymized;
  • Vision AI and pet biometric data: retained only for as long as necessary to provide the enabled features or comply with legal obligations;
  • Customer support records: 3 years after resolution.

Retention periods may vary where required by applicable law.

When information is no longer required, we will securely delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it using commercially reasonable methods.

7. Email Marketing and App Notifications

We may send you:

  • Service communications, including order confirmations, shipping updates, security alerts, firmware releases, warranty information, and other administrative notices. These communications are necessary to provide our services and do not require separate consent where permitted by law.
  • Marketing communications, including newsletters, promotions, and product recommendations, where permitted by law or with your consent where required.

You may opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. Opting out of marketing communications will not affect service-related communications.

Push notification preferences may be managed through your device settings or the IdealZero App. Disabling notifications may affect certain real-time features.

8. How We Disclose and Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information as defined under applicable privacy laws. We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers performing services on our behalf, including cloud hosting, payment processing, logistics, analytics, advertising measurement, marketing automation, customer communications, cybersecurity, customer support, and similar business operations;
  • Business partners and authorized third-party integrations you choose to use;
  • Professional advisors, including legal, accounting, insurance, and audit professionals;
  • Law enforcement, regulators, courts, or government authorities where required or permitted by law;

We may also use third-party analytics, advertising, marketing automation, and session replay services, such as Google Analytics (including GA4), Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Klaviyo, Hotjar, and Microsoft Clarity. These providers may use cookies, pixels, SDKs, or similar technologies to help us understand website usage, measure campaign performance, personalize content, improve our services, and support marketing activities. Their collection and use of information are subject to their respective privacy policies.

11. Security of Your Information

We implement reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information, including:

  • Encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate;
  • Access controls and authentication measures;
  • Security monitoring and logging;

Although we use reasonable safeguards, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and should notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

12. Children's Information

Our services are not directed to children under 13 or the applicable minimum age under local law.

We do not knowingly collect children's personal information without required parental consent. If we learn such information has been collected, we will delete it as required by law. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information may contact us using the information in Section 17.

13. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

At or before the time of collection, California residents are informed of the categories of personal information collected and the purposes for which such information is used, as described in Sections 1 through 4.

This Section supplements the other provisions of this Privacy Policy for California residents.

During the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 1, from the sources identified in Section 2, for the purposes described in Sections 3 and 4, and disclosed such information to the categories of recipients described in Section 8.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 without authorization required by California law.

Our services may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not controlled by IdealZero. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing personal information.
